The mayor of Grenoble, Michel Destot, speaking at la Maison de l’Internationale de Grenoble

Friday, June 29th, Grenoble’s Maison de l’Internationale celebrated the 4th of July, hosted by the mayor of Grenoble (Michel Destot), France États-Unis Grenoble and the  Comité Jumelage Grenoble-Phoenix. Mark Shapiro, the American Consul of Lyon, honored the event with his presence. Grenobloise was there of course !

In a cozy temperature of 40 degrees C, Michel Destot, Mark Shapiro and Patrick Brans (president of  France États-Unis Grenoble) all gave a speech. Afterwards, we ate hors d’oeuvres à l’américaine while sipping champagne !

It was also an opportune moment to sign the protocol for the “American Corner” which will be an information center (also situated at the Maison de l’Internationale) dedicated to the US (see the 3rd photo)! I didn’t realize how strong the ties were between Grenoble and the US!

Hi Cedric! I have been in Grenoble for 1 year :-) . Thanks for the birthday wishes — …but where’s my cake?

Yes I heard about your friend’s site on GrenobleLife. I’m not interested personally but I think it’s really useful for French beginners.

    Nice :-)
France Etats-Unis is doing a great job fostering French-American friendship. I used to be part of the Parisian branch :-)
